CLOVE + HALLOW is the culmination of my lifelong passion for beauty, a growing interest in a clean lifestyle, and my hands-on experience as a freelance makeup artist in Atlanta.
I’ll be honest with you: my journey to launching CLOVE + HALLOW began thanks to less-than-stellar circumstances. After months of grappling with a debilitating “mystery illness” that left me depressed and bed-ridden with daily panic attacks, my doctors recommended I totally overhaul my lifestyle as a last-ditch effort at healing.
After cleaning up my diet and finding some symptomatic relief with holistic medicine, I decided to take it to the next level by getting rid of my chemical-laden beauty products. I knew it was going to be hard, but my motivation was compounded by the new knowledge that I was going to become an aunt; I still cringe at the thought of kissing my nephew with toxic lipstick!
It was a painful process. It took forever. (I may or may not have kept some of my favorite palettes that I’ll never use again simply for sentimental value.) After trying hundreds – yes, hundreds – of clean alternatives to my beloved favorites, I still hadn’t found products with the shade range, pigmentation, and performance that I was used to. More than anything, I hated that I couldn’t recommend any clean products to my diverse clientele because the shade ranges were so limited.
So, I dreamt up a line of safe, beautiful, and affordable cosmetics that worked for women of all skintones. Lofty, sure. But I like a challenge. My goal with CLOVE + HALLOW is to change the perception that natural products can’t compete with their conventional counterparts and create a line that I feel confident recommending to friends, family and clients. Getting to this point has been a painstaking labor of love – I hope you love how you look and feel great using our products.
